Over the eleven years this site has been on the internet there were several "special event" pages created which were not linked from the main navigation page, Site Central. Usually, these special pages were accessed via the FYI page, where their availability was announced. The pages were made between 1998 and 2005, when regular updates were made to the site. Updates were suspended from May 2005 until April 2009. When a major past movie of Mary Stuart Masterson's came upon its anniversary year, a celebration page could have been created. In 2000, Ms. Masterson reached her Fifteenth Anniversary as an adult performer in movies and a special page was created. There was a Tenth Anniversary page created for Fried Green Tomatoes in 2001. Those pages are still around in the Geocities server address where they have been stored since they were made. This page will enable the visitor to navigate to those pages whenever they want, and all such future Special Event Pages will be controlled from this index page.
We also found that we copied some of the main pages of old sites that used to have links on the Links Menu page as souvenirs. After a few years I learned that Web sites are not forever. Some of them I wanted to remember, so I copied their main, or index, pages as souvenirs. I still can't find the old Some Kind of Wonderful page that used to be on Geocities as a sub page to the Movie Freak Central site. The copies were on an old Toshiba laptop I used during all but two of the Tavern's seven first active years (2000-2005). Only the index pages will be made available by link. These pages haven't been around in years. This is merely an archive like the Wayback Machine. Links will be made available to a few of these.
There is a tribute page to Claudia Kehl of Switzerland, a long time correspondent to Mary Stu's Tavern and also the Webmistress of her own MSM site, Mary-Stuart-Masterson.com, the equivalent of Vanity Fair among all the MSM sites that were up and running from 2004 through 2008. No one found more news than she did.
Finally, after realizing that Web sites die, I kept archiving the Dreamhost Guestbook. I have almost every entry made since early 1998 when the Tavern launched. Dreamhost only keeps between 50 and 75 entries at any one time. The rest disappear with the other sites, but won't with this one. The Guestbook will be archived here clear back to 1999.
This used to be a very busy place. In 2001, the Tavern had over 1200 visitors in a single month, around the time Oceans 11 hit theaters. When the site went on hiatus in 2005, traffic had considerably diminished. I don't expect to see it return to those early days, but it will be nice to have some of the old pages, old linked partners and award winners, and the all the comments of past visitors available for viewing. Exciting things once happened here. Friendships were made. People connected and had a good time. These things are what a Tavern is all about.
We decided to retire the old "Favorite Site Award" we used to present to other Mary Stuart Masterson related sites. Most of the Webmasters who received the awards never displayed them, and almost all of the sites are defunct. The awards Mary Stu's Tavern won in the past will also be accessible only from the Museum. Site awards were big in the early days, but now no one cares much about them. The only awards page that will be available from the index page of this site will be a list of show business awards which Mary Stuart Masterson won, or for which she was given the honor of being nominated. The old award image will still be displayed on the front page, as usual, as it is a kind of "Trademark" image for the Tavern.
Geocities made me produce this Index page, probably because it advertised Geocities' service to visitors. If I didn't make one, no one could get into the site, so this is what I made. It is a simple navigation site to get the visitors to the real main page in a hurry.
